Default Flashcal 3570 unlocking question

I am looking to buy a used Flashcal 3570 off of Craiglist and I wanted to know if these programmers can be unlocked by the end user or if they needed to be unlocked by Superchips. I want to be able to plug this device in and verify that it is unlocked before buying and wanted to know if it will let you know immediately once it is plugged in? I had a dodge ram that I used a tuner with and remembered it was vin locked and could not be unlocked by me but I know these tuners have changed.

Any input is appreciated.

The individual that owns it and has used it on their vehicle should be able to return it to stock, unlocked condition. If they don't and you purchase it, I believe Superchips will charge you $100 to unlock it.

You should be able to plug it into your vehicle while doing the transaction and make sure it is not locked to another VIN.

Awesome thank you, he claims it is unlocked so I want to be able to check it. Do you happen to know if the Spark software starts right up when it is plugged in for updates and purchases and does that lock to the unit with say a specific password? I want to make sure I get all of the info before this guy goes away tonight.

Not sure as I sold mine a year ago when I sold my Jeep. However if you do get it, I would recommend going to the Superchips site first and make sure it is up-to-date with the latest version of the software. You might have to create an account on their site and download the software. It may also come with the software. Either way, go to their site and make sure the update software is the latest then make sure the Flashpaq is current with updates. Then go program your vehicle.
