Mag light clips are great for other items too.

Nope. But I don't drive too often on the street doorless so the temptation is minimized.

I tried mounting my maglite mounts on my driver's seat rail, but after I drilled a hole, the screw would hardly turn in it. I think if I went up a drill bit size, then the hole would be too big, but the screws just didn't want to turn, and almost began to strip. I feel like the width of the rail (the metal) is larger than the thread size of the screws that come with it.

Am I doing something wrong here? How did everyone else install these? It feels like an idiot test, and I'm failing...

It's just very hardened steel. Get the right pilot hole size and use good quality screws. it'll work. Or, you can use screws and nuts instead of sheet metal screws.

Default how is this

how well does the double sided tape hole a heavy Maglite? if if were to use any i guess i would use the 3m outdoor doublesided tape its really strong... But I would be skeptical to use it for heavy things...

Yeah, I was also skeptical about the tape.

So if I am understanding things correctly, you are NOT using the screws that come with the maglite mount, but heavier duty ones from a hardware store (or elsewhere)?

Mounted mine to the side if the seat with the Maglite clips. Chunked the screws and used some small bolts, 10-24 i think. Tightened the nuts down on the other side and viola! 4-D mag next to me and not going anywhere! Took about 10 minutes for eferythinh
