what on earth is the flat cushion spindle kit used for in the windshield header for the best top safari/ targa bikini top? it came with the kit and isnt mentioned in the directions.. anyone have a clue?

i am thinking that it would be used for other jeep models when using the header with other jeep / vehicle models whose frame isnt the same as our jjks. I tried googling it and saw some pictures of where the foam pad and screw is used in place of the lil plastic flap thing that rests on the frame. I am guessing that is what its for. Anyone have any pictures of how the clamps close down on the loops in the jk?
