Default Ford 1tons or dodge 1tons

Can get my hands on a set of f250 axles or ram 2500 diesel axles. Ford's are Dana 60 front with sterling rear (4:10 gears) while the ram's are Dana 60 front with Dana 70 rear (3:73 gears). I'm putting 5:13 in them anyway so the hearing doesn't matter. My question is which axles will be cheaper and easier to swap in? The fords can be had for $600 and the dodge's for $300 total.. im stuck here. 2002 f250 and 2001 ram 2500 diesel manual. Swapping into my 14' JK because I bent my Dana 30 on 37s.

Buy both sets and I'll buy whichever ones you don't use. That's super cheap. The cheapest I can find around here is a grand for the pair.

ps. I have no useful info for you. Sorry.

Heck I thought that was expensive! Nobody does 1ton's around here.. so many jeepers but nobody takes the right steps in their builds. I'm finally doing it and have money set aside but not too too much.. I might just buy all the sets locally around here and sell them elsewhere

I just looked on Craigslist again because I was curious. All that is available right now for the Super Duty is a front axle out of an unknown year, the guy wants $1000 for it and there is another front axle out of a 2010 the guy wants $800 for. No rears available at this time.

Have you checked Artec's swap kits? They have them listed by axle type and year range, might give some useful info.

If you do a sterling rear you'll have to take out your gas tank or do a fuel cell. I'm doing a 1ton build and I'm using a 14 bolt rear and 05 front I would pass on the dodge everything's worked out for the ford axles already like he said check out artec and just read on what it takes to do this

Not sure if it's necessary to take out the gas tank or get a fuel cell because of the sterling 10.5. Some on here have used them.

Doing a set of 02 super duty axles on a Cherokee for a guy now. They're huge. That's what I'm going with. Artec sells the swap kits for around $350 a side. The swap itself wouldn't be much different than trussing a stock axle.

Being that he's got a 14 aren't there issues with the abs and sterling rear axles? I remember hearing something about no tone rings on the rear = limp mode on the 12+. Or has someone released a fix for the tone ring issue now? I think on the front Currie has a unit bearing with abs sensors but it's expensive.

OP, those super duty axles are awesome and would be easier to swap than the dodge ones because there is support and it's been done so info is out there, but this won't be a simple plug and play, weld up some brackets and go type of deal if you plan on having a clean install on a street driven rig. There will be a lot of nagging little details like fuel tank, abs, brake and master cylinder issues, parking brake, etc. Know what you are getting into cause you will have a lot more money and time into this swap than you expect, that's what everyone has said that has done this on a JK. Of course they have been swapped before I'm just trying to give you some friendly advice, just do your homework and read some of the build threads on JKO to get a heads up will make this much smoother.

I envy all you guys with SD axles. Such beef!

But I have my abs/esp disabled anyway. It's not very fun Offroad.
