Ford conversion in jk
Your comparing an out dated 4 speed auto to a modern 6 speed auto. Like us newer jks with the 5 speed auto don't have to gear near as low as the 4 speed did. 35's with the 4 speed need 5.13 ish gears where as the 5 speeds needs 4.10-4.56 with 4.88 and up being more towards the offroad only group
We are the only shop that can do LS/Hemi swaps, it takes a lot of time to build a kit and test it. I think the VVT Truck Hemi is the best Hemi ever in a JK, the thing about the Hemi is it is all Mopar and easy to work on. So the Jeep Dealer can work on it.
Now the Chevrolet LS is a great engine and the 6L80 is a better trans, but it is a little more work to install it an now you would need some one that knows the GM side to work on the engine/trans and some that knows the Jeep side to work on the Jeep. It also looks like every time you put a LS in anything it needs to be tuned. I like my 6.2L/6L80 in my Jeep, but i also like the VVT Truck Hemi so it is hard, now if some one does a Ford 3.5 ecoboost it would take awhile to get the bugs worked out, but it would be a get engine in a Jeep but i would rather put the time into a Diesel.
The thing we are working on now is the LS in a JK, because we have the Hemi in a JK working really good! We have about 15 LS/JKs running around and they are doing great.

A lot of you guys are acting like a raptor is fast. Don't get me wrong it's a sick truck, probably my favorite but it's the same if not slower than a stock 3.6 jk in the quarter mile. I only wish I had the money to do any of the motor swaps you guys are talking about. Might have to settle for a supercharger

5.0 JKU - you will tear the shit out of that gearbox with virtually any V8 behind it. It can hardly stand the stock V6 "power". That is why repowering costs so much because it is like replacing the drivetrain. And that 302 will eat fuel unless you use the last FI 302 you can find. Lots of work for less return power wise. 5.3 Chev is the best engine at this cubic inch capacity.
I'm a real sucker for the Ford Windsor 302... but I'd not put one in the 4500lb+ Jeep... at least not a stock block version.
Now, a Dart block, running 3.4stroke x 4.125bore (363cubes) with some ~200-220cc heads... that could be a real nice truck motor... albeit ~100lbs heavier than the 5.3, but making more power... and costing a boat ton more to do.
Wonder why no one was discussing the 6.4hemi... I mean, this thread is 6 years old, but hadn't the 6.4hemi already been in production at that point?
