True, but a shock is more variable than a coil.
For a given lift (or no lift), whatever the coil is, it has to keep the Jeep at the same height as any other coil -- so the basic spring coefficient stays the same.
This doesn't leave as much room for play with the coil, as there is for the shock, which "just" resists the coil compression/decompression.
The shocks' valving can be changed over a relatively wide range, and changes the overall softness/hardness quite a lot.
Just for fun, and out of curiosity, when I removed the stock shocks (for replacing), I drove around the block without shocks... It felt like a boat on waves... and it was the softest Jeep ever...

honestly i dont think its that. I think its the fact that all my flex joints are shot all the way around.
Can yall valve them???????
edit: It could quite possibly be that, but i have to get everything tightened up first before i know if its actually the shock issue. I may love the way it rides after that fixed.
I have had the teraflex valved fox shocks since May and can say they do make a difference blasting through the trails. However, they have been beatin and now the front has lost the nitrogen charge and needs to be rebuilt.
They're tucked up pretty high, so I'd guess that the build of the shock was faulty, or a very rare case of a faulty shock.
I have yet to see a problem with a Fox shock which was properly built and installed.
