Default Frame mounted Rock Sliders

Hi folks, I am right at the point of getting ready to attach my "home brewed" (extremely rugged) Rock Sliders to my 2D JK's frame. I was going to have a certified welder weld 2"x2"x6" angle iron tabs to the frame rails to accept the Sliders to be bolted on. I have just noticed that the frame rails are extremely thin metal and feel I need to modify my frame mounts now. I'm considering another angle iron tight to the frame rails bottom side to help carry / disperse the weight of the JEEP. This would theoretically provide lift to the entire bottom edge of each frame rail during a Sliders encounter with an "immovable object". The drivers side is not so difficult to drill and through-bolt, or even bolt over / under the frame rail...but the fuel tank on the passenger side is going to be tough clearence-wise.
Anyone have any suggestions for me...PLEASE! Thanks... Mike

Take a look at the shrockworks frame mounted install instructions for ideas. I'm having a tough time envisioning the issue your having without pic's.

I'm concerned about the welds tearing loose during a very rough encounter. Can't do pics. I live out in the woods with zero access to cable, DSL, (closest cable is 12 miles away) and I'd need to cut half the forest down for Satellite (ie Hughs Net) Original angle iron tab concept was vertically welded approx 40" apart fore and aft to provide a bolt-on point for mated angle iron tabs on the sliders. Will look at Shrockworks as you suggested...Thanks Mike

If you receive GPS signals have you considered this for peace of mind?

Not sure what you mean? If I wander around with a GPS receiver I can occationally find a clearing and get a signal but I don't really want to cut all that many trees down just to attempt to get broadband. I'm not a "computer type person" so it's not that important to me. Aside from plain old telephone, I'm a Ham Radio Operator with a home that has 100% emergency back-up power so communications isn't a problem if this is what you are refering to as "peace of mind"? Besides...I have a JEEP so I have plenty of peace of mind Ha Ha Ha!! Take care... Mike
