Default Frame Notch

Who has notched their passenger side front end frame for raised tracked bar reasons?

This is my situation. 3.5 RK lift. 2.5" Fox hydraulic bumpstops. 3.25" of JKS bumpstop on lower end of coil. Space between both, about 2". So at full uptravel and Fox bumpstop compression, around 4.5". Raised trackbar suggest 3" bumpstops. I'm thinking I'm gonna contact my frame.

Thoughts?

Ringer and Dirtman for sure have done it. I know many others have. I will likely have to as well. I wouldn't even think twice about it. Notch it and don't look back. Would be a waste to add more bump stop and lose uptravel.

Cut the notch, bend a filler plate and weld it in. Will be just as strong. If you're worried it won't be, add a gusset.

I cut a piece of pipe and welded it in. Turned out great.

I'll be doing mine this coming weekend. Make sure to compress your suspension and mark the frame - the front axle moves quite a bit further than I thought.
I got some 2"x3"x3/16" rectangular tubing that I'll cut and piece in there.

I should have left more overhang in the back and less in the front. It would allow the power steering line to tuck up above it better and I'm worried my swaybar might rub on plate like it did on the round tubes. Oh well, I ground it down a little - we'll see what happens.

Just FYI the location you are notching is in the front crush zone of the frame. This is what those small notches in the frame are. Modifying this area may affect your airbag deployment timing in a crash.
