i'm also considering the lod stubby (with the stinger) but my main concern is how far out the bumper itself sits. any issues with the approach angle?

well if your going to climb a brick wall yes . but it does stick out about five inches beyond the winch. its a great bumper but if your going serious climbing you should get the shrockworks stubby its awesome but expensive......
