Default Front bumper legal?

OK. This may be a dumb question. But, does anyone know if the "wings" on the stock front bumper are there for a legal issue? I wonder this because even the mopar rock crawler bumper has the sides stick out in front of the tires. I obviously prefer the look of the stubby bumpers, but am wondering if that will come back to bite me in the --- when it comes time to get it inspected. Any thoughts?

For some states it is necessary to have a bumper that extends to the end of the tires (like the flares). Most states don't care.

Yeah, normally they don't care, unless they are hurting for cash, then you get a ticket for not having a front license plate...

I called a local state inspection garage before I bought my Shrockworks Stubby. I live in Virginia and they told me all that mattered with the bumper was the height. I was told the stubby was fine. Try calling your inspection garage.

Yeah height is what matters. That makes sense to me. Duh! Call the inspection place. Why I didn't think of that I have no idea. Thanks!
