Default Front drive shaft boot

How important is the front drive shaft boot? I tore about 1/4" off today. Should I even try to get it covered under warranty? I do plan to get an after market shaft one day soon.

Thanks

You have a couple options. A used driveshaft or a new one from J.E. Reel, Tom Woods, Teraflex, Rubicon Express, or any of the other manufacturers that sell them. Sounds like you are going to need a set of adjustable upper arms in order to keep this from happening again.

Ty

edit: Its not a warranty issue. More than likely your lift caused it due to the angle the shaft now runs at.

with a 2" BB, assuming spring spacer lift, I would be he can get away with a warranty repair, depending on his dealer

I am going to try the warranty route, and see what they say. Why would I need a set of adjustable upper arms? What do they do? Would I still need these with an after market drive shaft? Should I take off my front until it gets fixed?

Thanks

Just leave it torn. You'll see how important it is.

Thanks for the help! I plan on getting it fixed ASAP.

Edit: do after market DS have the same issue as stock?

You must have an 07. I got mine covered after it ripped thanks to the fact that the part number for the 08 changed. They actually changed the clamp that holds the boot on in 08. it is now flat instead of the typically screw. After mine was replaced it hasn't hit the oil pan yet. Now i did break my axle housing and got hosed with a hefty bill but im pretty sure it had nothing to do with this.

No. They are not enclosed CV joints. They are a CV joint of a different animal. A much better one.
