Default Front end shaking like crazy when I hit a bump, any idea what it is?

Hi guys,

I'm running a 09 2 door rubicon with a 4" long arm lift, 1" body lift, and 37" tires. Only 6k miles on the jeep. When I hit a small bump the steering will starts yanking back and forth and the front wheels feel like they are gonna pop off. I thought it my be the steering stabilizer, but i put a new one in and that didn't do it. Could it be the steering box, or something at the wheels?

Thanks for the advice!

Something is loose. Possibly your front trackbar, re-check torque on everything you loosened while putting lift on. If it was something at the wheels it would probably do it all the time not just when you hit a bump. Something in the suspension is moving when it shouldn't. Good luck!!

Sounds like death wobble. Check your track bar bolts. Re-torque them to 125 ft lbs.

Welcome to the club!! My husband put a 3 inch lift on my JK 3 weeks ago been dealing with death wobble for 2 weeks now. We retorqued everything and even took the track bar off and holes are fine in that too. I hope you figure out your problem we still can't figure ours out

I had bump steer like what you are describing and I found my front lower control arms were not torques to 125#s. I retorqued them and the problem went away. My track bar was the first thing I checked but it was torqued down pretty good

Check your entire suspension for loose bolts and retorque as necessary. Also, check your castor. You might have too little for a lift that tall. My DW went away as soon as I raised the castor slightly and retorqued everything while the jeep was on the ground.

I had something similar a while back. Turned out to be bad front shocks. I guess they let thhe front end bounce? more than normal. As soon as they were changes my problem went away.

I have searched and I still can't figure out my DW. I think we are going to try an after market trackbar but who's to say that will fix the problem. I can spend all this $ and still have DW.

Definately sounds like death wobble to me. Good luck with this, as many seem to have it happen repeatedly
