Thanks, I think a small tack weld on each side is happening in the near future.

When I worked on aircraft, we would use a compound on pipe fittings. On AN fittings we just used o-rings. But for this, the teflon on the pipe fittings works, I have no leaks. If I eventually get leaks I’ll use a compound on them.

Hi @Sv_dude ! I'm almost to point of pulling the trigger on a PSC BIG BORE XD Cylinder Assist Steering Kit. I've heard some rumors around that PSC is having quality problems and that many people are pissed at them. I wanted to check in with you to see how your system is now working a couple months out from your finish. Are you happy with it? Any nagging problems that I (or everyone) should be aware of? Thanks!

I’d love to tell you I’m 100% happy with it but there are a couple issues. I wouldn’t exactly say they’re quality control issues though. One issue was that the reservoir would belch out some fluid once in a while. I’ve bled the system thoroughly and I think the fluid coming out the reservoir drain tube was just due to fluid expansion from heat. Not 100% sure though on that being the reason. However, this was fixed by putting their reservoir pressure piece (forgot what it’s called) on the reservoir drain hose.

Another annoyance (which is simply design fault) is that at slow speeds in a parking lot I have to turn the wheel slow because otherwise I’m trying to extend the ram faster than what the pump can push fluid through the system. This however is common on hydro assist systems. If I cared enough I would call Howe racing in Southern California and talk to them about a better pump. I say this is a design flaw because I know enough about hydraulics that you can have a pump that puts out the minimum system requirements at the minimum rpm, and then bleeds any excess fluid volume/pressure back into the return side so you’re not over pressuring the system. Maybe psc didn’t care to incorporate this into their system due to cost or complications but I’m pointing it out because it is an annoyance.

Overall I’m more happy than not. I did need to tack weld the tie hydro mount to the tie rod because the hydro mount kept slipping. This isn’t a PSC issue though.

Thanks for getting back to me! I appreciate your opinion on this. I'll definitely look into the reservoir pressure piece that you mentioned. Regarding the tack weld, I won't be able to do that because I have the RPM Steering 2.5 tie rod. It's 2" in diameter which may help it from shimmying loose, but I'll check with them to see what they suggest. I think they offer a mount specifically for this kind of thing. Thanks again!

What if he, and I since I'm in the same boat, installed those anti-wobble bushings on the TRE's?
