I have a 3" FT Ultimate also and the left hand side spring is slightly bent. Replaced with FT HD springs and still the same thing. Took it to FT suspension. Checked all the front ends caster lower and upper arms all good but still not sure why???

 

get this I have the same issue with my terflex 3" lift springs on the front driver side as well and the spring hits the metal side of the stock bump stop
it has gone away in the winter. but i'm sure it will return in the summer.

 

Give FT a call, it looks like your axle might not be centered, its hard to tell your from your pictures.

 

Lets not cry wolf....I've seen a lot of springs that look like this..

I think it seems pretty out there to call this "definitely a FT spring quality issue" when its quite clear there are A) a lot of springs that do this and B) a lot of reasons that can cause this.

Jeep_R: have you even tried to contact Full Traction about this issue? If they can't get you a spring directly, they'd be the best source of information regarding dealers who can.

 

i agree with both of you, it doesn't look like the spring is seated correctly. looks like it needs to be rotated counter clockwise about 3-4 inchs. there should be a notch cut in the spring perch for the end of the spring to drop into. i'd try that and if that didnt fix it, call FT... their lifts do have a warrenty the last time i checked...

 

I'll quote myself for some of you to read it again, because it seems everyone ignored what I said

In his picture, the coil IS seated, it might need to be rotated 1/4" if that, but it is in the drop down notch in the perch.
Either way, that should not make that much of a bend in the coil!!
My RE spring is sitting up on the notch, it didnt drop back into the notch the last time I flexed the Jeep.....and my coil is still straight as can be!

As I said in my other post.....
The Jeep I saw had both coils bent, one bent forward, the other bent backwards. Since the perches are notched
opposite of each other, that would mean the coils are bent the same direction if they are taken out of the Jeep.
So it has nothing to do with the axle being rotated or too far forward or too far backward.
Even if the axle were not centered front to back or side to side, the coil would just lean in that
direction (Ive seen this happen with miss adjusted arms or no track bar) it would NOT bend in the middle like the one pictured in this thread.

Besides, the kit that I saw in person with the bent coils had a FT Premium kit with NON-adjustable arms,
so the axle was where it should be, according to FT, and the coils were seated, yet they were bent just like the pics above.

So....I'll say it again, I think FT has a problem with their coils.
He needs to call them and tell them whats going on, because the coils should not be bent like that.


The coil in the picture is on the driver side and it is seated.
The driver side coil seats in the back of the perch.
The passenger side coil seats in the front of the perch, go check out your Jeep

 

try adjusting your caster. A previous post mentioned steering sensitivity. Not enough negative caster will cause a spring to bend like this just like too much negative caster will. Mine was bent like this and i adjusted the caster from 9.5 degrees to 6.5 and it straightened up.

Come on seat the dang spring.

Over 20 years working on Jeeps and never have I seen a bent coil.

Do a test and try to bend a coil spring, aint going to happen.

Those coils are not bent, but tilted to saverly. Call the manufacture about this problems.

 

Ease up on calling this a "FT issue". I have got about 12,000 miles on my FT 3" lift and many thousands of those off-road. My springs sre totally straight at all four corners as are two friends with FT Jk lifts. Something must not be adjusted, centered, or installed properly. It is dam near impossible to bend the spring without noticing you did something serious.
