I have a 2010 JK Rubicon with a Tereflex 3.5in lift with lower control arms, Tereflex Trac Bar, Fox Steering Stablizer, 35" Goodyear Dura Trac Tires. The lift went on at about 5K miles with 33" BFG All Terrains, the 35" Dura Trac tires went on last November (run air pressure at 32lbs). About 2 months ago started noticing a slight difference in the way the JK was handling on surface street. About a month ago, upgraded with Synergy ball joints, Tereflex HD Drag Link, and Tereflex Tie Rod and had a second alignment performed. Purchased a new Fox ATS Stablizer. Castor is at 3.9 on driver side and 4.2 on passenger side. Since then the JK has been hard to handle driving around town. Steering is very twitchy and feels unsafe. Not really sure where to go from here, looking for suggestions.

You ss did nothing and was wasted money. Id check all bushings, bjs shoild be good. Castor id think they could get equal if you have adjustable arms. Have you chalk tested? Are the tires road force balanced?

 

Caster is a bit low and will cause twitching steering. I'd increase them .5 to .7 degrees. Get the passenger side as close to 5 without going over. The driver side should be slightly less. It offsets the crown in most roads.

Also check the toe. Sounds like you may be out of spec there.

Beyond that, check all the bolt torques.

Should fix the handling issues. Also, chalk test the tires. Pressure sounds a little too high, but may be ok.

 

Took off the new Fox SS and it helped a lot. Will work on tires and castor next. Does anyone know how much PSI is in the Fox SS? Thinking amount lowering it to make it not as tight.

 

The fox ATS is adjustable?

 

How many miles have you put on the ball joints?
Have you ran a chalk test on the tires?

 

I've heard the ATS van cause some twitch if not set right.
I agree with toe also and caster shouldn't be so off from each side.

I wouldn't suspect this with Synergy but some BJ's bind which can cause a weird feel in the wheel

The Fox SS ATS has a Schrader valve on it and comes from the factory at about 200 PSI. Thinking of letting a few PSI(s) out to see if that helps. The new ball joints have about 50 miles on them and we are finding out that they have about a 300 mile break in period, things are getting better by the mile.

 

That's high pressure nitrogen. Probably not a great idea. You'll lose a significant amount of the charge. You need to use a precision fill gauge designed for nitrogen fill. There is also a minimum amount of charge needed to work correctly and not cause damage.
