Default Full exhaust sys. question

Has anyone installed a full ( headers-back ) system on their JK?
did you notice any gains?
how did it sound?
how did the install go?
I am looking at Borla headers and pipe to match up to my Borla cat-back sys. I already have, so any info/advice would be helpful...
Thanks in advance...

I was told by the manager at 4wheelparts that each one they did or saw had problems melting ignition wires, even with header wrap and homemade heat shields. The other comment was the power gain was minimal. I would be curious to know if you have the same experience.

Yes, Headers, y pipe, all the way back to tail pipe....
I already have the cat -back system installed, minimal gain, a little bit better sound, but looking for more gain...
My biggest want is to get rid of the catalytic converter to help the motor breathe better....
Anyone???

Yep, headers will assuredly lean out the JK so your EGT temperatures go way up. Third party heat barrier coatings are the only way to fly if you don't want to cook stuff and keep your engine compartment cool. As for getting rid of the lean condition, upping the octane rating worked for me and no problems since I bought the SC Flashpaq with the tunes standard octane ratings.

I'd love to get rid of the Y pipe, but it's elimination is going to throw a ton of CELs and DTC. The best hope is for a programmer to alleviate some of them, but even SC says they don't work with long tubes.

As far as I know with what you're looking for, Borla is the only game in town. Also, I have have yet to see anyone here do a review or mention they own them. They are off road use only, and with biannual inspections I can't lose the Cats.

So my suggestion is that you strap a set on, place your order tonight and let us all know how they work.

Now that Borla makes a performance Y pipe, I'd like to see what their long tube headers would do with some high flow cats installed with a good cat back. Would have to be worth a few ponies. Certainly not worth all the money spent, but I'm sure it would add something.

I guess maybe I'm just from the OLD SCHOOL, but I've put headers and systems on alot of different cars/trucks, even my buddy has headers on his TJ with no problem...
I wouldn't think as long as I still used all the sensors, and reprogrammed the computer I should be able to run a full exhaust sys...
I don't have any experience with a v-6 motor but I have to think it's possible.
I would also someday like to pull the engine and bore it, stroke it, flow and port the heads and maybe a new cam!!! But that build is for another day...
