Angry Full Traction Disconnect Problem?

Hi All--I did a search and couldn't find anything about this but has anyone else had problems with the tolerances on the sway bar disconnects from Full Traction?

I just installed a 3" lift and now everytime the jeep rocks there is an annoying clunking sound from the disconnects. It seems there is about 1/8" of an inch of play between the pin and the hole in the disconnect. This causes it to make a nasty clunking sound every time the jeep transfers weight

Is this normal or am I just lucky??

Ah, i just developed the same noise a couple days ago. Do you have the FT track Bar up front too? This noise is driving me crazy. I was thinkiong it may be from the TB. I am going to go through and re tourqe everything tommorow and see what happens. I will post my findings.

As far as the squeaking goes, did you put lithium grease on the fittings as you put it together, especially where rubber meets metal. I had a squeak at the rear shock mount, put some grease on and its gone.

As far as the clunk goes, use the sway bar links that you took off the rear and put them on the front. If the clunk stops, its your disconnects, if it doesn't, try to retorque the track bar to specs. It's like 125lbs which is a lot.

None of you have specified which 3" lift you have, econ, premium, or ultimate. That helps take out some of the guess work here.

I have the ultimate and it kicks butt on the trail; good sturdy components.

My wife rocked the jeep while I layed under it and looked for the noise. It is definitely coming from the disconnect. I can see the bar part of the link shifting up and down inside the end.

Basically the cause is the hole drilled in the bar of the disconnect is bigger than the connecting pin. This allows the whole disconnect to change length by about 1/8" and unfortunately is makes a nasty clunking sound as it does.

I have heard great things about their lifts and I was hoping that I was unlucky and got a bad part. I hope that this isn't the way they engineered the part.

If this is how their solution is supposed to work, let me know and I will replace it with the rear links. If not I will give full traction a call and get a new set of links.

Thanks.

Default 3" ft premium

Mine started making a clicking noise after a week with no offroad use. Took it back to the shop that installed it and they told me it was the drivers side lower control arm. The arms bushing was cracked. After 4 weeks of waiting FT finally sent a replacement but it was the wrong arm. Still waiting on the correct one supposed to be here today week 5. With this kinda of customer service how do they expect to get repeat customers.

Could the bushing crack on the stock arms too?
I went through and retourqed stuff, still have it. I will gop back again and try the gresea, but i put grease on already when i installed. This might be the most annoying noise it the world.

Im not sure if it could happen to the stock contol arm. My 4 wheel drive shop told me it shouldnt cause any problems other than being annoying as hell. I did receive some good news today my new control arm came in again. Hope its the right one this time.
