X2 I agree full width in the rear doesn't look right with flat fenders. I went with a mid-width in the front and kind of wish I had went with the stubby. If I had went with 37's instead of 35's I most definitely would have went with the stubby in front.
I agree with this. Of course, I think the flat fenders look funny. LOL. But, if you need them because of your tires/articulation, they are practical. Still look funny. Therefore, I vote full-width in the rear--but my primary reason is protection. The mid-width looks cool up front, but I can see well where I'm going. When backing, I like the added protection of the full width rear bumper because I can't see behind as well. And I like the looks of the stock fenders (I know, I'm in the distinct minority, but did I mention how goofy flat fenders look?).

It depends on what you are going to do with it, how big you eventually will build it, and how you will use it. If you are going to rock crawl , having a stubby is very useful becasue it allows you to put your tires on the rock without hitting the bumper. In the rear, a stubby is nice if a) you will be doing really narrow stuff like through boulders and you don't want to hang up on the sides, or b) if you are running 41+ tires, a full width rubs on full stuff (yes you could put a bump stop in to keep it from rubbing but then you'd give up flex).
So i tend to agree with the other guys: stubby in front, full width in rear.
If you aren't going to rock crawl, have big tires, then stubby's don't matter from a practicality point of view. They still look cool though.

Our local law requires a "full track width" bumper coverage front and back.
Since stubbys or midwidth are illegal, I voted for full width.
Some guys run the mid width here and just don't know better, but it is my experinece, it's just a matter of time!
I'd really like something that looks like the stock bumper, but in steel. If anyone has seen one, pm me please. I'm shopping for a front bumper. I have the "mopar" bumper and carrier on the back already.
