Default Future Build Question

( quick pretense.... Im currently a Land Rover Discovery driver, but am looking at making a change to a JK early next year). After doing a ton of research while trying to make a decision on which model to buy, Ive come to the conclusion that for the money combined with the types of off road driving Ill be doing, it makes more sense for me to forego a Rubicon in favor of building up a Sport. From what I can gather, a Sahara only adds creature comforts and Id much rather save the cash for mods. So heres the thought....

The D30 is a capable enough front axlento run 35s for moderate wheeling. Ill also be sleeving it and adding gussets as well.

Which leads me to my question. Since I love the thought of not having extra components to drag down the electrical system as well as having more opportunity for breakage Id like to use a Lockrite lunchbox in the front D30 instead of an ARB. The downside is that any time you go 4wd, your fully locked.

What, if there are any, driving conditions could one be placed in where being locked would become a hinder? I cant think of any, but there are far more knowledgable folks than i... Any help?

I don't know how the diff you are considering works, but based on what you said about it always being locked while in 4wd....

It's dangerous to be locked while traveling on a wet or icy/snow covered road. Loss of directional control can come on swiftly and unexpectedly.

I kind of figured snow/ice and wet driving in 4wd and locked would be problematic, although I dont foresee myself stuck in theses situations since Im in Texas. My trail driving will mostly, if not all, be comprised of sand, gravel, mus and rock trails.

Any idea if being locked in any of these types of environments would negatively effect my capabilities?

You won't be able to steer for sh*t in mud and you'll likely do damage when on dry anything besides sand
