Default Gas MPG with light towing???

I'm trying to kill two birds with one stone here so I need to plan.....here it is. I'm going out to Moab for EJS and I am also trying to sell my jet ski with trailer etc. I have two offers for people willing to meet me in Moab. BUT....thats after I tow it out there over 1750 miles. What I want to know is how much this will effect my mpg? That way I can charge the buyer an additional cost of "shipping"

I'm on 35s, 3.73 automatic with towing package. Now the trailer and everything would weigh only around 1000 lbs.

Anyone have any idea of how much this would hurt my mpg? Any estimates?

Thanks

I would also factor in the fact you have 35's and 3.73's. Hills are gonna hurt.

Dennis...
I've towed a 1500 pound trailer with my JK and unfortunately my MPG went way, way down on the highway.

I tow the same trailer with my 03' 6.0 V8 300hp Chevy Express van and it's like the trailer ain't even there.

JK just sucks towing. JK just sucks in MPG over all.

I think my heavier, larger V8 van gets fuel economy then the damn jeep.

You have a few days before you leave, so how about just hooking up the trailer and going for a drive?

My opinion - Your mpg already dropped from the lift and bigger tires. Auto with stock gears and 35's, you'll be O/D Off and lugging the entire trip anyway, regardless of towing. Personally, I wouldn't stick him for a big delivery charge. A 6-pack and a trip to Subway. Top off your tank. Something small. No need to make him pay because you haven't bothered to regear...

I normally get 22Imperial MPG on the highway, when I towed a 3500lb trailer and had the jeep loaded up with camping gear, I think it dropped to around 14-15. Not US MPG, Imperial... conversion required (and I'm too lazy).

I have a 15' Bass boat(just under 3k) that I take back and forth to a lake in northern Mich. The JK 4dr pulls that with no problem at all. It's been my experience that mileage will suffer dramatically the faster you go.I usually poke along staying under 75 mph and that helps a lot. Depending on terrain and weather with that small load you might not have it that bad. With or without a load Wranglers hate speeding and will make you pay for it in fuel.

I don't have 35s, but I think I got around 14 pulling a popup camper at 75 MPH with OD off.
I think your 35s may be just fine for cruising along with no OD, but that is apparently just my opinion.

I get 9MPG towing a 3000 lb travel trailer. I can't wait to see if that imrpoves now that I have the 5.13's in.
