Default Gear 4.10 a quick question

Over the winter I plan on re-gearing and just wanted to know about the right ratio I should go with. I don't plan on running anything over a 33in tire, but those are already a struggle because I have 3.21s now. Another question is will I have to change out the carrier when I move up in ratio?

Right now any advice is welcome.

You will need a new front carrier.

4.10's are fine for 33's. You will need a front carrier for 3.73 and up.

If you are gonna spend the money to regear, I'd go steeper than 4.10's. The JK's are geard way to high, especially the heavier JKU's.

Stickied right at the top of this Modified area are some Faq's. Open the Drivetrain section and plug some numbers into the chart. Rember to use the actual measured tire height and not the mfg's spec/sidewall height.

People are posting that 4.56's are still hard to find, nationwide backorder or something, so you may be stuck getting 4.10's.

If that is the case, see if you can find a set of used axles off of a rubicon instead of re-gearing your current axles.

4.10 is good for 33in tires. I regeared to that from 3.21s.

Thanks for the update on the carrier. I will have to keep an eye out on this forum on finding a new one. I might go with 4.56 just as a safe measure / to future proof any other projects.

I went to 4.88 and I'm glad I did (manual transmission).
