Default Gear Brands

So... I am thinking of re-gearing my JK, on that note what brand of gears should I stay away from. One shop told me Yukon gears are the best and it would cost me $2000 turn key. This cost includes master kits, also Yukon. So my question is what brand of gears are everyone else running? Thanks

They are all made overseas out of the same factory, so they just get repackaged from different companies. I have G2 5.13s and no issues. $2000 sounds like a lot, shop around for sure.

I have the Yukon gears from Northridge. The shop that did my install said the gears were good quality, and set up very easily.

Im at 20K miles on them and no problems

That's ashame. I work for the largest high alloy steel producing mill in the country TIMKEN CO. We make the steel for Chrysler's , GM,Ford, Dana ect. gears, and all of their bearings but I thought we made it for alot of after market too. Shop around look for the timken logo you'll find it

From what Dynatrac has posted, US Gear is now making 4.88's for JK D44 axles here in the US, and from a better steel than is being used in the imported JK gears. (4320 vs the 8620 used for the imports). Hopefully they will expand their selection to other JK ratios.
