Default gear oil

Before I run out to Autozone to get some gear oil, I just wanted to see what yall thought about it. My Royal Purple is leaking through the seal and I'm gonna get some dino and stop running that synthetic crap. If I run dino, do I have to add anything to it? I was just gonna get some 75w-90 Valvoline High Performance Gear Oil.

I was actually about to change my diffs and run royal purple myself and have always heard good about it. I am wondering this as well. I have heard of ring blowby issues with people running synthetic motor oil...

Yeah I'm just gonna see if dino will leak and if not, I'm gonna keep running it. A lot of people on here will tell you there's no point in running synthetic unless you're racing your JK haha and dino is hell of a lot cheaper

You would need an additive if you have limited slip.
otherwise, pure dino oil (API GL-5) will be fine.

How do I know if I have limited slip or not?

Y'all is short for saying "you all". It's like saying what's for "what is" or you're for "you are".

Dino oil is oil from the earth. It's not man-made like synthetic. It's just a nickname.

You're welcome. Or should I say "YOU ARE welcome" so you can understand what I'm saying?

That is english; southern style.

Back to the OP, Autozone carries a Valvoline semi-synthetic gear oil. It works well in limited slip applications. BTW, if your seals are leaking, dino oil won't fix that. Napa carries the seals for about $9 each. I did my pinion seal at 18,000 miles. First time I ever had to change a leaking pinion seal. Jeep's quality really sucks.
