Default Gear Question

I ordered my 3.5 Max Travel Kit, and Will soon be getting wheels and tires, I'm going with 35s. I am going to be getting 5.13 gears, from what im getting is what I need. Would it cause an issue to install the gears before i get the wheels knowing i will be getting them soon?

Not at all. You'll have a bit of higher rpms just nothing that's over the top. Make sure you have something to calibrate for the new gears such as a Procal.

I have an issue with using 5.13 gears. Are you going to be doing a lot of rock crawling? If not I would only do 4.56 or 4.88 gears at the most. My reason is at 70 MPH with 5.13 gears your going to be at 2700 pm a little much for a daily driver. That's just my opinion.

Not sure why 2700 rpms is viewed as a lot. Less power needs to be made per stroke to maintain speed, less wear on the transmission wit a reduced frequency of downshifts and more firmly in the vehicles power band which promotes efficiency. Bone stock 5 speed owners have been cruising at 2500 rpm at 70mph and enjoying much greater efficiency than automatic owners running 20% less rpms. Then you look at what Chrysler did with the new auto transmission and it's right in line with what the former 6 speed was. So again, I see no issue running at 2700 rpm and my lengthy personal tests have resulted in no meaningful efficiency differences from 23-2700 rpm.

I agree. These motors like the higher rpm's. I purposely keep my overdrive off to help from lugging the motor with my 35's and 4.10 gears
