Default Gear solution

Is there a bolt on "rubicrawler-like" solution that would mimic the gearing of 5:38s? I live in the northeast where re-gearing is extremely expensive and risky (I can't seem to find a shop with a good amount of installs under their belt). I was wondering it there is a gear reduction option that can be installed between the Rubi T-case and the tranny that would give a similar ration to 5:38s. Considering I have and auto and would love to go to 38s or 40's for tires, I could stand to have my high range gearing be as high as in the 6:xx range. anyone had some experience with this?

A regear is rated as an 8-10 hour job.

The parts are only $550 shipped.

A Rubicrawler costs way more than that.

And no, there is nothing like that to run at highway speeds.

It was an OTD price quoted by Steve's Jeep country in Epping NH. if anyone knows of something closer to $1000 in the new england/north east, I'm ready to take the plunge.

$800-1000 per axle including parts is pretty standard anywhere from I have read and been quoted.

sounds like its an east coast problem. Texas, AZ and CA shops advertise both axles OTD for $1000.

My buddy's shop in Northeastern PA charges 250.00 an axle. He did mine and I have almost 20K on them and they are perfect. His shop is a speed/muscle care shop. He rebuilds rears in his sleep. I ordered the install kits and gears and brought it to him.
