Gearing?
Hey guys need some info, got a 2010 sahara with 3.73 gears looking to get 5.13 installed, what else besides the gears do you have change? I seen gears installed for $899, i live in ontario and for that price i will make the trip to the states to get them done, but i want to make sure there is no other parts i need to get first.. Thx in advance guys/gals for any info most appreciated..
The answer to your question is "nothing".
The installed price is just that, it includes everything, gear/kit and labor. They usually add tax.
A little more info. If you were doing the gear change yourself or taking parts needed to a shop and have them just do the labor, you have a choice between a "gear install kit" and a "master kit". The difference being the master kit also has new bearings (4 in total). With a low milage vehicle all you need is the install kit.
A shop will take a full day to do both differentials and you will have to set an appointment.

Thx eactly the answer i wanted.. Just wanted to double check didn't want to end up getting them done then all of sudden well you also need this this this this this$$$$$$$,,, Thx again now to book time off work and an appointment
The only thing you may want to consider is lockers. If you plan on getting them installed in you gear is the time to do it because it is already open. This way you do not have to pay for the labor twice. Not required at all but something to think about.
If a proper driveline shop is doing the gear installation you shouldn't need any bearings as they should have the proper tools to take the carrier and pinion bearings off without destroying them so they can be reused...it is a 2010 after all

I've been looking at lockers, probly going with the aussie up front then arb in the rear, one question i have to ask the shop before i commit is will the new gears be able to handle a 1700 mile ride right after install...
Recommendations are that you drive a short stint of about 20 miles at no more than 40 mph then allow a complete cool down of the differential...which takes a few hours...then no faster than 60 mph for the first 100 miles for break in with gentle acceleration...no towing for 500 miles....these are standard recommendations post gear install
