Gearing question.
How can I tell what gears are currently installed in my 2011 JK 2 door sport? When I had the window sticker I remember seeing 3.73 gears, but I want to know for sure because I just ordered 35's and might have to regear if I have 3.21 and not 3.73. Any help on where I can find this info.

Enter your VIN on the Jeep website or jack up the rear end and count driveshaft revolutions while rotating the tire. The number of times the driveshaft rotates equals the gear ratio. If the driveshaft rotates about 3x, the gear ratio is 3.21. If it rotates 3 3/4 turns, the gear ratio is 3.73. You can mark the driveshaft to help you count.
It will drive fine, just feel low on power. It'll be your personnel preference how long you can live with those gears.

With a 6speed it'll be ok for awhile, much worse with an automatic. Don't put off regearing to long, I waited about 2 years and had I known how much better my jeep would drive, I would have done this like day one!
If you have the hitch as well it is most likely 3.73 due to the tow package. I have a 6-speed with 35's and drove with the 3.73 for about 6 months. It is driveable, more so in the city, but lost 6th gear and mpg went down to about 13.5. I put in 4.88 and couldn't be happier. Revs a little high at 70mph but she cruises right along and has plenty of power back.

Jack one tire off the ground.
Rotate it by hand 2 complete revolutions while counting the drive shaft turns.
If the shaft rotated about 3 and 1/4 turns, you have 3.21 gears.
If the shaft rotated about 3 and 3/4 turns, you have 3.73 gears.
