Default Gears Install Kit vs. Overhaul Kit???

hey everyone. i was browsing around on northridge4x4 and started looking for gears, i see they have an

install kit

can anyone enlighten me on what the differences are between the 2? there isnt much description.
also, would one of these be all you need for a gear swap?

Bearings aren't a neccessity, but if you have a decent amount of miles on your jeep already, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get the new bearings. Some shops will recommend/require new bearings because the old ones can get damaged upon removal.

thanks guys!! would you say 36000 miles is enough for the overhaul kit? i think i'll get it anyway, just cause of the whole "damaged while removed" aspect.

Nope 36K is just wearing in. If you get the install kit cheap enough you can buy the pinion bearings at the local autoparts store and save some cash. The carrier bearings don't need to come off because you shim between the housing and the bearing. Worst case you damage the inner pinion bearing, the outers come off easy.

That is correct install kit does not have any bearings the overhaul kit comes with 2 carrier bearings and two pinion bearings. In my opinion anything over 20k should get new bearings.

When we do gears at the shop we always replace the bearings.
