Default gen 3 ls swap

Anyone used builder parts from rpm extreme, jeep speed shop or Novak for a gen 3 5.3l lm7 ls and 4l60e swap?

I have a Gen lll + 4L60E in my CJ , I used the Novak Stuff .

It is real basic , all stand alone , Trans and engine are separate and all gauges are old school .
More a buggy , no AC , no doors , no top and a boom box radio no less .

I don't even use a speedo , my tach is marked up with speeds for the last 3 gears with pointers in differing colors .

I did the swap years ago , it's a 5.3 . More than enough for the lightweight CJ .

But I also have a JKR with a 6.2 LS3 + 6L80E in it and I think that the support for the Gen lll is lacking for many reasons .
1) Emissions Compliance
2) Year model requirements such as same or newer model engine to meet most state regulations .
3) The 6L80E is a better trans for the JK , and is what makes the LS swaps so popular .

I believe most of the Companies that are in the LS swap game would agree that for a dual purpose JK that the Gen Vl + 6L80E are the go to combination .
And you get to keep all the creature comforts in your JK .

Sorry, can't help you on the gen III but I did a diy kit from RPM Extreme for my gen IV 6.0/6l80e and am very pleased with there kit and support. I am pretty sure they have a kit for the gen III and would think it is as good. Give them a call and they will give you the specifics of there kits.

I would go for the RPM Extreme Kit.. I know those guys and they are great guys that build awesome jeeps. They will work with you on the kit install etc.

Awesome thanks everyone I've talked to the guys at rpm very informative. Just wanted some feedback from someone who has used their kits. Their gen III kit looks pretty complete. I'd love to go gen IV and 6l80e but it's way too pricey and I happen to have a free gen III donor vehicle. Plus there isn't any emission or inspection where I live, also the jeep spends abut 90% of its time offroad.

Did everything go smoothly for your swap? Pretty much plug and play on the harness, how did you like their tunes?

Yeah, everything went in as stated. Harness plugging was well marked and pretty much when laid out fell into place. The wires that did need to be spliced in were not bad once you look at them, sort them out and look at where they go, I freaked myself out looking at the whole bundle of wires and it was stupid of me since like I said if you just sort them out and look at where they go it's not bad. Tunes really worked out great. I got the hptuners and have been mildly and I do mean mildly tweaking it, since I do not now really what I am doing with it and learning. The tune could defiantly be used as is though. The support has been outstanding, Jon will make sure things are right if you have a question or issue.

I'm sure it does! I've done plenty of other swaps without kits but the jk electronics are definitely harder to deal with.
