Default Getting ready for powder coat

What do i need to do to prep my metal for powdercoating? Or should the shop do prep and finish?

Or should i just go with paint?

If its bare metal, then just take it to our local shop and let them prep it. Most shops will not just coat something that you prepped. If its painted then you can save them some time (and yourself some $)by strippping or sand blasting the paint off. Hope this helps.

For our stuff....

We first bake it in the oven. This drives all the oils out of cracks and turns them to solids. We then sand blast it. After that it gets a chemical wash. It is then ready to go back in the oven for powder coat. It's a PITA, but it works well.
