Going from dull doors to factory half doors
I live in New York and am debating on switching from full doors to factory half doors. Has anyone done this up here? Is it worth it?
I did it and love them. I still have my full doors and will change them out this winter. In the heat here in Texas it takes longer to cool my Jeep off but it's not bad. If I had a garage I would leave the uppers off a lot but there are cats all around my apartment and I don't want them inside my Jeep.
I have half doors and we can get down to 20-30 degrees often, sometimes in the teens - there is really not a huge difference. Its a bit chillier initially, but nothing the heater cant solve in 2-3 minutes. All the guys I jeep with, come summer time start wishing they had half doors. In my opinion, it's worth it.
I live in NY and personally, I wouldn't go with half doors with a daily driver. Although awesome in the summer, I think you'd hate them when it's -10 below and when your dumping slush and salt on your lap, When your opening your window at the drive through or ATM. My TJ had them and it was a huge pain in the freezing cold winters. Not to mention the frozen zippers and brittle plastic.
I had them on my old jk islander. I live in western pa near Pittsburgh. Loves them in the summer. Absolutely hated them in the winter. Didnt like wheeling with them on do to if you had to unzip them you'd get all the mud or such falling in on you. You can't just crack the window to talk to someone like you can with glass. Its either up or down lol. And when they are cold and you go to fold them up or down they will break. Duct tape isnt a good look lol. Zippers are junk. My driver side broke after a year. I could only zip it one way. Pain in the ass to close or open going down the road. But when they are off they are soo nice. Only 2 pros to all the cons. Awesome when they are off and they look good. But ill prolly never own another set. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for the input and feedback! I think I am going to wait and get the full soft doors like I planned and keep my hard doors! I want to eventually have a hardtop and hard doors for the winter and my soft top and full soft doors for the summer!
