Default Good Deal, and Will It Look Right?

I am looking at buying a set of 20x8.5 inch KMC Rockstar XD rims, with 285/50 Nitto Terra Grapplers almost brand new (less than 1000 miles). $1500 was the price, does that seem like an OK deal? Also, with that rim and tire setup, am I going to get that wide stance that I am looking for, or will they tuck inside of the fenders like the stock rims do? Any advice would be awesome, since I am picking them up tomorrow.

The tire is going to look kind of tiny with a 20" wheel, but it should give you ample protection for the wheel with the extra tire protruding.

I figured the tire will look small, but I'm trying to figure out if they will stick out from the fenders to give the "wide" look, or if it's going to tuck in on the fender...

285/50/R20 converts to somewhere around a 31 x 11.50. That is a lot of wheel and very little rubber.

They should stick out a little bit.

Assuming I did the math right, these have a 5.14 BS. Stock rims are 6.25 BS. So the outside of the rims will stick out 1.11" further on both sides.

Stock tires are 10" wide I think. The mfg's spec for the new tire is 11.69" wide. 1.69" wider. Half on each side = .845. So the rim is 1.11" further out, but the inside of the new tire is only .265" further out. Then, you figure that the old tire is 32" tall, and the new tire is only 31", soooo, no, you won't rub.

$1500 was the price, does that seem like an OK deal?
For a tire that is shorter than the stock 32's? Nope, not an 'OK' deal. Just my opinion though.

Also, with that rim and tire setup, am I going to get that wide stance that I am looking for,
1.1 inches further than stock? No.

If you have stock 29's, pick up a cheap set of 32" take-offs for a couple hundred instead. If you have stock 32's and just want a wider stance, grab a set of spidertrax instead. If your tires need replacing, keep looking for a deal on a bigger set --> with smaller rims.
