Default A good replacement for the OEM soft top - suggestions?

Had yet another drawn-out, bloody-knuckled wrestling match with my factory soft-top, and I think I've about had it with this thing. It works well in it's set positions but getting it there (removing the rear window panel is always my nemesis) is a pain in the butt.

So I was wondering if any of you are using another aftermarket soft top and if it is easier to use? And how about in rain and snow - does it hold up?

Thanks for the help!

Default Supertop NX

I have had a Supertop NX on back order for some time. Sold my OEM soft top. Feeling confident I made the right decision but time will tell.

Same here. No problems with original soft top other than the minor leaking around the top of the door frame just above the door handle. This is so common I think Jeep refers to it as a feature - the interior washing feature. A little window trim from Lowe's mostly fixed it. Are the after market ones any better? I haven't had any issues getting the windows in or out or the top up or down.

I have issues with my rear window panel. It's pretty hard to remove - zipper issues. I guess I have to whip out the WD40 or KY jelly or something. Putting the soft top back up can get a little tricky too - I usually lift both bars up and over the speaker bar, allow the sunrider portion to flop forward into place and then slowly secure it from front to rear. It just seems a little cumbersome and was just wondering if there was a silver bullet design out there that gets rid of these annoyances.

Are the teeth ok? If so, the zipper itself is wore out, bent or twisted. Check out Jeepit.com and get a set of new zippers.

I had similar issue when I my TJ and the zipper made all the difference.

removing rear window was always a pain in the ass for me too until i figured out i didnt have to remove it. My 08 came with two closed loop elestic bands that have button snaps on them. There are snaps inside the jeep just above the rear window that you snap the bands too. you then just unzip the rear window half way leaving the top part still zipppered. you then roll the rear window up and slip the ends of the rolled up window into those hanging elestic loops and fold the top down. Boy that was hard to explain, hope it helps ya.

Yup I do that too but always worried that I'd scuff up the rear panel when I folded the top down. I'm so sick of that zipper that I'm gonna just do like you're suggesting. Yup

One thing - might want to take the bottom bar off before you roll the panel up and secure it with the bands. I've found that the extra weight from the bar makes putting the top back up a huge PITA.

Ooh! That hurt LOL. Don't forget the mall crawler sticker on the side windows!
