Default Goodyear Duratracs

Anyone running a 35x12.5x17 duratrac? Looking for some feedback on the mileage out of these tires. Is it worth spending the extra money on the ProComp XMT2's with a 40k mile warranty?

I'm running 35" Duratracs, but not that exact size. I've run through one set, and have a second set now installed (135K miles). While I can't answer your exact question, here's what I can share:
  • The Duratracs should get 40K miles no problem. I replaced my first set at about 50-60K miles, and they still had plenty of tread life left to the treadware indicators. I replaced them because I go off-road a lot and need more tread than the treadware indicator provides for (it's designed to give an idea of wet paved street performance, not snowy or muddy trails).
  • The Duratracs are an overall very good general purpose tire--an excellent all terrain. Not only are they an excellent AT, but they look somewhat aggressive (many ATs look pretty wimpy), and they are reasonably quiet on the highway. If that's what you want, I recommend them very highly.

Check out some of my videos on YouTube DigitalByDoiron to get an idea of how I use my tires. Note that several other rigs you see in those videos also use Duratracs--a decision arrived at separately by experienced overlander/expedition travelers.

Had those exact tires for a little under 10k miles. All around awesome tires. Nearly zero wear. They even did great in the Michigan snow.

A tread life warranty doesn't mean it wears better.

I would run the Duratracs. I have a friend running ProComps and at 10k miles has little tread left. He's wanting a new different tire now. My only experience with ProComp though.

Have them and love them. About 15k on them and not a lot of wear.

Just got some Duratracs in 285/70-17. They make hardly any highway noise. Just drove 200 miles to try them in the dirt and couldn't be happier with their performance.

Great tire, just wish they made it bigger than 315.

I wish they could make it in 37x12.50R17
