Default Goodyear MTR tires question!

I am probably going to get some Goodyear MTR's.

I hear they are good off road and good as a daily driver...

I was looking at the sizes and it seems like 305/70R17 is the close to a 33"-34"... Is this right?

And if it is.. will they look little with a 4" lift?

ALSO... Does anyone have these.. How much did they cost and where did you get them?

I have never had MTR's, but have read and heard that they are a great off road tire, but can get a bit loud on the road as they wear.

For my TJ, I ordered my first set from a farm supply store and a replacement pair from Tirerack.com. Great off-road in rocky trails and wet farmground (not exactly mud), decent on-road for 20 to 30K miles, then loud as can be. Just be ready to rotate them at least every oil change. I learned that the hard way, hence the replacement pair. With the price and the short life-span, I decided not to buy them again. Trying the BFG mudders, instead.

Most people I know are getting 40k out of their mtr's. I had them on my TJ and I thought they were a great tire. I made the mistake of getting bfg mt's on the JK and I will never get them again. Not happy at all with them.

I have had mine for about 5000 miles now and love them so far. They are quiet and well mannered on the road and are great off road. I know they will get louder as the wear, but right now they are almost as quiet as the stock 32" BFG's. Only time will tell how they do in the long run, but for now I would highly recommend them. As far as the cost goes, I got all five mounted with lifetime ballance and rotation for $1600 out the door. This was the same price I was able to find for Toyos and BFG's. I got this price at Kauffman. Goodyear wanted about $2100.

They are good for everything except rocks. They slip too much when crawling. MT/R's stick like glue.

Been using BFG MT's since 1999 on my TJ & now on the JK. My opinion is they are an excellent choice. Good for on/off raod.
I'm in PA.

Default Tires

I've run MT/Rs in 30, 31, 33, and 35 now!

They work for what I do

www.TireRack.com had them the cheapest, then i found somewhere else like $40 cheaper (total) out of NJ or something, just google it...

i have 35s on my TJ, but only drive it 2-3,000 miles / year...

when I had the 33s on my daily driver I wore them out pretty quick.

there not that loud for such an agressive tire, and they don't actually look that agressive vs some of the really insane ones, but i do know they work.

as for clingy mud, there isn't enough space between the lugs to clear it well, without a lot of HP... but the more space between the lugs, the more road noise and the less tire on the rocks...

all give and take. I feel they are a good tire
