I've been using these but it's only been about 4 months. The coating is supposed to be solid on these...
Amazon.com: DPAccessories D5242P-2308/23 23 Premium Black 6 Spline Drive/Tuner Wheel/Lug Nuts (1/2"-20) 1.35" Tall: Automotive

Only problem with using a regular patterned spline lug nut is that they can still be removed with a 16mm/17mm socket

So to address that I also use a set of these as my "locking" lug nut...

You really can't avoid corrosion on the lug nuts. Once the surface coating is damaged, it's an invitation for rust. That said, there are certain processes that do a great job of preventing rust (e.g. Zinc chromate). Most aftermarket lug nuts are not likely to be treated with such processes.

Lug nuts are cheap. Buy a new box in the Spring if it bothers you.

Thanks spicedcrusher.

May end up looking for some different ones if these start to rust.

Gorilla Automotive Products - Lug Nuts, Wheel Locks, Auto Security, Wheel Accessories

these are what I run. No rust and hard one piece cast lug so no soft tin cover that goes to crap like stock.
