Default got 5.13s going back to 4.10s

There is just no power going up the highway, in Colorado, with 5.13 gears (unlimited rubi auto 35s). With the 4.10s I could kick it down to 2nd gear and scoot right up the hills in the mid 3 thousands. With the 5.13s, there is not enough gear in third to get up, and 2nd about red lines. It is just plain worse in the hills IMO.

With the 410s, I had better mileage and better highway hill climbing. Offroad is a wash (better in some situations, worse in others). The stop light to stop light driving is a bit more sluggish with the 4.10s. But the hills are what I got this thing for... So, I am going back.

Sorry it didn't work out for ya. Maybe try and step up to 37's? I hate to see someone go backwards...

Good luck.

Default 4.88?

my 3.73 is around 1500 RPM at 65 MPH - down shifts to get up hills since RPM too low to generate any power from the 3.8L.

with 35", specs have 4.54's best for all around mix of fuel economy and power.
supposed to be like stock. but haven't seen this offered on JK, so going with 4.88's.

5.13's best for off-roading, but on highway RPM's revving up around 2500 - not good on gas.

I guess we are finding out that 5.13 are best with 37" and 4.88 are best with 35".

Good luck.
I hate going back. Mostly because I spent all that money going to 5.13s. But, my jeep is simply less usable for me. At least this time, the gears are paid for.

Ouch costly mistake! Hope you are doing it yourself as that will be another 600-800 dollars for an install.

I have 4.10s with 35's and I am happy as dog in heat. Probably wont ever upgrade the gears simply because I love it this way. Difference between you and me; however, I have a 6 speed manual.
