Hi! I’m new here and not sure if this is the correct spot to post this.
I have a 2014 Jk Rubicon on a teraflex lift. I have fixed most problems I’ve encountered with this JK with the help of DIYs from this forum and youtube. But with this one, I can’t seem to figure out where this grease is coming from?
The picture attached is from behind the transfer case. Rear driveshaft is pictured in photo.
It appears as the boot over the CV joint there on the TC side of the front driveshaft has ripped and spewed the grease. That's what it looks like to me at least from one picture. This is as common on a lifted jeep as the sun rising. It will soon be time for a new factory replacement, a new aftermarket shaft, or a Teraflex high angle CV joint build.
You usually can't spot this while the DS is installed, what you typically see is the grease on the underside of the tub. Once you drop the DS is it obvious.

Thank you for the response and kind welcome! Last summer the stock CV boot on the front driveshaft tore while wheeling on the beach, so I did replace it with the teraflex high angle before winter hit. I checked the boot and it appears to be intact. Could this have possibly been old grease from when it was torn? I don’t think I ever checked this area but I think I would have seen it as it’s pretty visible from underneath. Rear CV boot seems fine as well, but that really seems to be the only source of the problem!
If you are confident the new TF boot is in good shape, I would wager that is from the old joint, though the grease looks almost grey in the picture (maybe it's just the picture) which is not what we typically see. That said, there really isn't anything there in that area that is taking grease like that. I'd wipe it clean and see if there is any indication at all after a couple drives.

Thank you for your help! It was darker in person, the flash on the camera may have lightened up the color. I will clean it all off and go from there!
Teraflex had a cherry red grease in their kits when I've purchased them. What I have seen is the boot clamps failing if you don't tighten them adequately. I can dig around for a part number where I've bought the Dorman strap at a local auto parts store. Funny enough, I finally had a stock clamp just let loose and I found it in the driveway. Went underneath to check, spotted it, went out to the garage where I keep a handful of the clamps.
