Greasing a Reel 1310 double cardan
Getting under the JK for the first time to lube my Reel 1310s...
The problem is I cannot figure out how to grease the middle assembly and the tranny-side U-joint of the double cardan assembly.
I found what looks like a female zerk on the U-joint... concave surface with a spring loaded ball. I tried passing my sharp needle attachment by the ball, but all I accomplished was making a mess. I didn't force the needle in very far since I didn't want to break anything.
To be honest, I couldn't even find the interior grease point due to little clearance between the parts. I am assuming it is in there, since the guys at Reel told me it was there.
So here I am to ask the people that know:
What is the trick to getting these points?
Is a needle attachment the correct tool?

the zerk might be on the other side of the center assembly.
and you will have to rotate the driveshaft so the zerk is exposed at the point where the flex is at its greatest, which is mostly pointed up
so yea it is a bit of a pita to grease

T urn shaft so grease fitting faces drivers side this puts the fitting where the cv is opened up and go in above the exhaust pipe. They make a special needle grease tip for cv drive shafts. the tip is skinnier than the standard one. you may have to order one from the auto parTS store. I had same problem till i found new tip.
I thought about that, but I would be concerned that removing the shafts frequently might lead to other problems like rounding off the bolts, overtightening, snapping a head off, etc.
You need this, the needle doesnt work on it

Do you have the adapter plate on stock flanges or have you changed the yolks? Nuts and bolts are alot cheaper than a new ds. Change them out every so often if it bothers you.
Just make sure you get the skinnier needle grease adapter made for cv driveshaft. The standard one stock at most parts store is to fat to fit in. i had to check to different parts stores to get one. I believe i can get the part# if needed.
