Another one here with 35s wanting 37s. The 35s do great offroad, but having that extra inch (a 37 compared to a 35 will only give you 1 inch more clearance) would be nice. The 37s would also warrant a bigger "contact patch" for traction. Go 37s.

There are better vehicles for DD and towing a boat. You got the Jeep for a reason and that reason is why I say 37s over 35s. In either event if you go with 35s i recommend a regear and I am in the "safe than sorry" camp. So gusset that front axle and cut the rear pinch seam and all the other things you do when you go bigger than stock.

The funny thing, is if you gusset and regear and beef up then starting with 37s vs 35s is just a different gear ratio same expense (not counting the rubber). Just my two cents.

Your forgetting the toll the 37's will take on the steering and suspension components vs the 35's. It is much more than a gearing issue between the two sizes...

I'm feeling a little size envy even just peeking at this thread. All I have are 285s.....When the 4x4 shop did the install of my lift kit and we changed out my wheels/tires, he suggested this size. I never figured out that they're not 35s until somebody at my club busted on my baby tires. Now that I'm out like $1600+ for the 285s, it's too late to go to 35s. Can't afford to piss away more money. It appears that my wife's correct when she laughs and said "size does matter". I think she's talking about those Toyos.

I hope so....

You could always sell your 33s and use that cash towards 35s (To make your wife happier of course )

ouch, that hurts. I think you're saying I'm closer to 33s than 35s.....

I sort of call them "34s".

True 37's are the answer my friend! I had 35's for 2 months and wanted 37's so bad I took a $500 loss on the 35's, sold them and go my 37's. I couldn't be happier, love the look and the ride in my opinion is much better than the 35's or stock because of more rubber (don't get me wrong, it is far from a luxury car ride, but better none the less). I know it is a daily driver, but nobody gets a real Jeep (wrangler) for it's practicality, we get it because we have a passion for Jeeps, so have fun, mod the crap out of it and when stuff breaks, just buy better beefier stuff!! Get what you want and you will never be disappointed!

Peace

That is what I did after buying 35s. The difference is night and day, the coil over lift didn't hurt either.

Default Virtual beers for all!

Well, I've decided and ordered tires (should be here next week). I'm going with 35s. I figured they would be the easiest upgrade with the least amount of additional work required. Figure I can always jump to 37s when I need tires next, while doing the gears and gussets in the meantime.

Big thanks to everyone who commented! Your thoughts brought up a couple new points, and well-put ones at that, but a lot of what I was already debating too...In the end I decided on 35s because they're still highly functional in ALL aspects of my driving. Though I'm sure I'll still have tire envy. Hopefully it will be more for looks and not stuck on the trail
