Default Half door-full door swap

Hey everyone, so me and vyper from the forum have been trying to work out a trade for half doors and full doors....

I have half doors and he has half.....we have run into some problems that are quite obvious but we did not think of in the beginning....my question is if anyone has done this with success and how?

problem A) Swapping the lock cylinders....apparently this is not easliy done, as we were both told by our dealers.

B) this is the bigger problem....i have power windows, and if he gets my doors with power windows, will there be any way for him to control the windows?? are the four door jks set up all the same (ie: wire harness and controls for windows) for the doors? ...

my main question for everyone is if this swap is even practically possibly with doors with power windows?

I am not sure but I would be willing to make a bet that the non-power vehicle does not have the wiring. The only way that swap works is putting the less-complicated stuff on the more complicated vehicle. The other way "not so much".

Doesn't sound practical. DC will try to make money however they can so I highly doubt they'll have the wiring on a vehicle w/out power windows. I'm sure you can order it and have it installed but it sounds like a lot of trouble to go thorough. Also you'd prolly have to change the centre console where the controls go for the windows & I'm sure it won't be that cheap.

I added power windows to my non power jeep.... the wires were not there, i had to add all my own harness and wires and switches etc etc... it can be done. Having the window motors and regulators already in the doors makes it easy. i would recommend buying the cheapest universal power window kit on ebay as you'll only need the wiring, or if you can buy just the wiring do that. Or go to an install shop, somewhere that adds aftermarket alarms etc and see what they can offer you, again, being that all the hardware and wiring is already in the doors, adding the wiring into the jeep is the easy part. as for the locks, it is kinda a lot of work to take the door all apart, but it can be done. if you do a search on here for power locks, there should be one by James76 that shows pics of how to remove the door panels. Good luck.

this thread only makes me feel better about getting power windows...because when I buy half doors to swap in for summer I'll be able to put the full doors back on and have no problems in winter.

good luck to you!
