Default Hanson euro spec bumper - anyone running one?

Looking at a Hanson Euro spec bumper. Wanted AEV for a while but finally talked myself out of spending that much $$$. Hanson was close second. Anyone running one? Thoughts?

Hanson makes quality stuff, but that thing looks heavy as hell. I hope you have strong front springs.

Anyone notice any major handling differences adding a bumper and winch? I expect this bumper would be comparable in weight to other full width bumpers.

You can simulate this effect for yourself. Strap a 150 lb friend to your front bumper and drive around for a bit. This is also cantilevered weight, which makes it even harder for the suspension to control. Not saying you shouldn't do it, but you can't add 150 lbs (bumper + winch) to the front of your Jeep without affecting handling.

Here's a list of bumper weights that some guy on another forum put together.

155 lbs for the Warn is nuts. You'll be over 200 with a winch!

FRONT BUMPERS:
Stock front bumper (without tow hooks) - 26 lbs

Expedition One Basic DX front winch bumper - 24 lbs
GenRight aluminum front bumper with trail stinger - 29 lbs
Olympic 4x4 500 Series Rock Bumper (front) - 30 lbs
Rock Krawler aluminum stubby front bumper - 35 lbs
Poison Spyder BFH (no hoop) - 37 lbs
Poison Spyder BFH w/ Brawler Bar - 42 lbs
Poison Spyder BFH w/ Trail Stinger - 43 lbs
Poison Spyder BFH w/ Comp Stinger - 44 lbs
Nemesis Triumph aluminum front bumper - 53 lbs
Shrockworks Stubby w/ winch plate - 55 lbs
Aberle aluminum front winch bumper - 61 lbs
Warrior front bumper with stinger - 65 lbs
LOD mid width w/o stinger - 72 lbs
GenRight steel front bumper with trail stinger - 80 lbs
Fab Four stubby front winch bumper - 80 lbs
LOD signature series front bumper - 82 lbs
Rock Hard 4x4 Parts stubby front winch bumper - 86 lbs
Offroad Evolution 1/4 Pounder front bumper w/ D-rings - 90 lbs

Expedition One Trail Series front bumper - 105 lbs
Smittybilt SRC front bumper - 110 lbs
Teraflex front bumper - 111 lbs
OR Fab Stubby front winch bumper w/ stinger - 110 lbs

Ya, with that much weight you will eventually be needing new ball joints sooner than later. Some preventative maintenance like some Dynatrac rebuildable bj's would have to be in the budget as well but that's just my opinion. On another note, if I was heading down that road to add that much weight front and rear, I would be purchasing a big brake kit, like Teraflex has just to be on the safe side. Once again, that's me and I have the tendency to be a little overkill. To each his own. Happy Jeepin'!!!
