Built my own with electric hoist. Piece of cake to take off and put on.

You put your red stopper at the wrong spot it is to shut off the winch. That is what the rectangle is on your winch that the cable comes through.

Yep he's right the red stopper goes between the winch and the pulley to stop it from winding up too much. For those not paying attention when they're lifting! I installed one for my mother in law for her 2007 Sahara, it works great. Haven't got one for my 2007 Wrangler X yet.

I now have a 4:1 reduction in hoist speed. I can not put the red stop in line since it would have to got through all the pulleys. The reduction is to help keep the top from bouncing and flexing to much.

Do a search for the Racor lift on the forum. For the functionality and value it is a great option. I have used it for two summers now and it works great to lift and store the top if you have enough ceiling height.

Racor PHL-1R Pro HeavyLift 4-by-4-Foot Cable-Lifted Storage Rack:Amazon:Home Improvement
Do you just take the shelf off and use the four cables attached to the hard top then, or do you just take the top off manually and place it on the shelf and raise it up out of the way.

You actually lower the shelf down on top of the top after placing some sort of padding under the shelf. I used pipe insulation tubes and tie wrapped them to the bottom of the shelf. Once the shelf is sitting on the top you run ratchet straps under the top to secure it to the shelf and then lift away. I leave the top hanging from the bottom of the shelf all season and the bonus side is you have the top of the shelf to place the front panels if you have a 4 door. Here is a link to a good thread about the lift

Default Installed the Racor system....

after seeing this thread a couple weeks ago. Wow this thing really works. I can drive the jeep underneath and just lift it right off. The top of the system allows storage for a bunch of extra stuff as well. I have my two freedom tops and some bikini tops act up there.

Highly recommended.
