Default Hardtop insulation panels

For those that made their own hardtop insulation panels. What are you using to affix them? I've tried double sided 3m. Carpet tape. And they all fail eventually over the winter.

I thought about super PL but I don't think it will ever come off. What about just plumbers silicone? It would peal off should I ever remove them.

Everything works for a while then between cold temps and moisture they start to fall on my head

Chewing gum? Surely I'm not the only who cheaped out and made custom panels

If you are willing to make the panels permanent, it opens up your choices tremendously. In other words, why would you want to remove them?

Also. I pulled one off to redo the fabric and I was able to scrape off the old stuff with hardly much work with a putty knife

I used water base contact cement from HD to glue Velcro to the roof and panels
A friend is laser cutting a custom stainless steal design to hold the panels on.
I was in Las Vegas in July with a temp of over 125 / 53c nothing glued on stayed glued ..

Mine are still stuck on after 2+ years with the 3 m tape.
Cleaned sections with alcohol before sticking it on.
