Default Have you ever used your 35" or larger spare tire?

I'm considering rolling with no spare when I move to 39s. That's the current plan. I'm trying to get a idea of how often a spare is actually needed. I personally have never needed one. Maybe I'm just lucky.

How did you lose the tire? Air, bead, puncture, etc

Gash open a sidewall and you will regret not having a spare! Have seen it happen many times from something as small as a tiny branch on a tree.

I lost a bead while wheeling and the tire was full of sand and dirt. Was driving back on a spare and got a chunk of metal in the tire. Had to take the sand tire off clean out what I could and fill it up.

Wish I had two spares that day.

I ALWAYS carry a spare as I have needed them many times (usually on other vehicles). I tore open both my drivers side tires hitting a metal pipe in a field; wish I had two spares on that day as I sat waiting for about two hours for assistance.

There is no reason not to be prepared unless you never plan on being that far from civilization.

Unless you're going to trailer your rig to and from the trail, the cons far outweigh the pros of no spare. If you can afford tires that big and all the other associated costs, surely you can buy one more and a carrier.

I had a puncture on a rear tire while in the remote Warner Mountains in the northeast corner of California. Without a spare, I would have been in trouble as the area is not traveled by many people, could have been a long wait or a very long walk without a spare. This is another reason you shouldn't travel alone but I was younger and thought nothing would happen as the vehicle was in great shape. There are many things in the wild that can cause a tire to lose pressure; I always carry a spare and now, a tire repair kit.

Never needed mine; but I don't regret having a spare.

I rotate mine in and get will get 20% more mileage than if I had no spare. More importantly, it wouldn't be ideal to put a brand new tire on when you cut 1of4 tires at 45,000 miles. I don't see any benefits to not owning a spare.

I'm sold on the spare already. I see so many rigs around Dallas with no spare tire. It got me thinking I didn't need one either.

I don't run a spare on streets, and I have even made a delete plate for the spare in the rear. I DO however Toss a spare In the rear when I hit the trails, and YES I've used it. Went snow wheeling a month and half ago and slid on a rock and knocked my front passenger tire off the bead. Folks thought I didn't have a spare, but I opened the tailgate and there it was! :-)
SPARE ON STREETS-hardly to never needed
SPARE ON TRAILS-hopefully u have one, cause you'll hate life if you dont
