Can't say that I have headers on the jeep and it's been doing fine.. so far.. But we did have the headers on the 99 (twice) and this is one of the most common issues with TJ model jeeps.. the 3 x 3 down pipes (where they join as one pipe) the weld in that area become weak and often just pops out.. several times we've had to replace the header on the 99 twice with RR's version.. it didn't fair any better after one years of use... So unless RR has redesigned or inspects, test their welds.. I'll prob not be going back to these. Again this is from my own personal experience while driving 1999 jeep wrangler sport..

Could be the picture but the JBA units appear to have nicer welds and a better design. The pic on their website show that the kit comes with some extra spark plug wiring as well.

I am going to stay away from long tube headers such as RIPP and BBK. They are a PITA to install and for this motor, there is no gain. If and when you do this be sure to post up some pics and a write up. Have a leaking driver side at this and am interested in doing this.

Actually, we have found in our in house dyno testing that "shorty" headers actually LOOSE power on the 3.8L V6. That why we took the time to design and tune our Long Tube Header. We worked very closely with American Racing Headers to create our design that:
  • Give measurable power gains to the rear wheels
  • increase power throughout the entire RPM band
  • move the power band of the motor to come in 600 RPM SOONER
  • work with the factory heat shield with minor trimming
  • scavenge the heat to actually lower under hood temperatures so you wont melt wires or battery/fuse box
