Question Heat Induction Hood vs. mud?

Ive always liked the AEV heat reduction hood, and am seriously thinking about getting one.
My questions are this....
do the vents really do much to cool things?
what exactly are they supposed to do?
and will my water and mud play affect anything with the hood?

I love how mean the hood looks, but dont know about performance advantages.

Heat reduction. Heat induction would bring heat into the hood

The hood will certainly reduce some under hood heat and a 10 degree drop equates to a 1% increase in power. Although it wouldn't do so well with the "Mud and Water" play, a true cold air inlet for a CAI. Also the hood bump is going to create some negative pressure and pull air out of the engine compartment.

I definitely like the thing a lot, just can't see it being high on my lest for the price tag.

You would have issues from the mud in the radiator before you would ever have any issues caused by mud getting through the vents in the hood. The engine was designed to be a wet compartment on the Jeep, and so it is designed to be able to handle the elements.

Come on Crash... you just want it because it looks bad ass. I'll have to back you up & say that dent on your hood is not repairable & you need to get a new one.

With the way you spray mud & water I don't think the hood will make much difference. Maybe you should consider taking it off when we go to Barnwell.
