Default Heated seat install question

Hey guys I thought I read somewhere that heated seats could be installed without removing the seats. A few people have told me you have to and I can no longer find a write up where someone didn't. Any help on if this is easily done is appreciated. 2010jku auto.

I installed them without taking the seats out. Mainly because I couldn't get the bolts undone and didn't have the patience to PB blast them.

I did a basic overview of the steps in the below thread. No pics but do a search as I thought I had used someone else's write up as a guideline when I did my install.

You don't have to pull the seats but it makes life a lot easier, especially if you are putting your switches in the center console.

Pulling the seats is pretty darn easy. Takes 10 minutes a seat, max

Thanks gents I try not to mess with seats for the safety aspect. I don't have a torque wrench and don't want to go with eh tight enough. I'll search for the thread again. Plus I have to do this at my work and that would be awkward if the boss came in and I had my seats on a table.

Did you still disconnect the battery?

I would recommend doing it because you're messing around where the side airbag connections are underneath the seats. Best to disconnect the battery in my opinion.

I don't have side airbags. That's why I was wondering.

Cool

Checking what seat heaters you went with? I must admit they spoil me in our TDI and I'd like to put them in my JKU, at least in the front seat ;-)

Was it a pain in the ass or easy job?

Did mine in my 10 a while back. Used the Dorman heated seat kit from Amazon....works great. Easiest way to do it is remove the seat to install the pads...otherwise pretty self explanatory
