Some other practical reasons not to run a 6" lift (and these are even issues sometimes with me and I run a 4" with 35's):

Wanna park in a parking structure or garage? Good luck, especially if you ever want a roof rack or light bar on top!

Wanna get in and out of that beast? You're gonna want a power step (trust me, a cheap step just won't look right on that sexy beast, am I right?!). At least $1,500 for parts. $2,500 to $3,000 for a RSE step-slider if you get it installed.

Got kids or a SO? Expect them to ride with you? If you don't follow the advice immediately above, better be prepared to carry a step ladder and be prepared for lots of bitchin...

Gearing costs and MPG (not cause of the lift per se, but now you're gonna want bigger and bigger tires lol!!)

Slide in and out of the driver seat with such a high lift and guess what? Side of the driver seat starts to lose its shape. Looks bad. Aftermarket seats. More $$$. yay!!

Those are my contributions

After having installed a teraflex longarm 6" lift to clear 40" tires, i can confirm alot of what has been said here.

Need power steps to get in(i will be getting the RSE step sliders. 1800.00 if i install.

It will be top heavy

The drag link flip kit was included on my kit along with speedbumps and elka shocks that work for 4"-6" lifts so its just adjustments that need to be made if springs are swapped out for lower 4" lift, should i choose to do so.

I am running wider dana 80 axles and spyderlock with 3.5 backspace making my jeep very wide with the 14.5 wide km2 tires! We shall see how that affects its "tippyness!"

After i get aftermarket fenderflairs i may go with less lift. We shall see.

95% of them can't tell the difference between a 6"inch lift and a 4"

So if I were you I would just go with a high quality 4" lift and save your self the headache and money. And all the money you saved by going with a 4" over the 6 you could spend on that 95% that can't tell the difference.

I remember going to buy used 33s on craiglist. And i pull up and this old guy had a jk there. He put a 9 inch lift on it and painted it pink for his daughter..

Thing was buetiful but funken dangerous on the road.

Sorry to hijack the thread. Didn't mean for it to go that way. Reason I have a 6" lift is cause I got it for an unbeatable price. Would have slapped myself into next week if I didn't jump on it. It is in fact a long arm kit. And I did think that 6'' was too much, that's why I asked the OP about why he wanted to go down to 4". Thanks for all your guy's input. I'll definitely be ordering up some 4''coils for it instead.

Actually, this just made me reconsider it. I'm installing the 6" lift and NO steps. I'll be more than willing to help them climb in.........
