Default Help!!!

Okay so I was pulling into my driveway and started hearing this squeaky/screeching noise. It quickly became VERY loud and annoying and only was making the noise at under 20mph. As I got faster it went away but at idle speed it was ridiculously loud. Needless to say, I was freaking out and decided to take it to the dealer. I hadn't got a mile away from my house (hauling ass cuz I was pissed) when I slowed down at a stop sign and it made NO noise. It hasn't made any noise since...

Does anyone have a clue what could have caused this? I honestly have no clue... Any help is appreciated!

My TJ did that once. I had picked up a rock in the brake rotor. Once it was out, no more noise.

X2, check your rotors, if you have a big gouge in one of them, rock.

Thanks guys! I had wondered if it was some kind of debris (rocks, pebbles, whatever) in the brakes.. I recently wheeled in a lot of mud and didnt get the undercarriage cleaned off well, so I bet that's the reason

Remember when muddin, first thing you should clean really well is the inside of the wheels and your brakes. I've done my fair share of mud, especiaaly in CJ's. Always cleaned the discs really well then , they had drums on the rear, so I had to pull the rear wheels, pop the drum off and hose , then brake cleaner out. Lot easier with JK's 4 disc brakes. Get under there and high pressure behind thje dust sheild and everything around your brakes, pull up about 6inches and do it again. This coming from a guy who's CB handle was Mudman. Alot of people half ass their under carriage, Clean everything underneath and in your engine bay before even touching the outside, especially all around your body bolts and get all the mud off the top of your skids and exhaust.

My 08 Jk is doing the same thing. I just went out for lunch and as I pulled back is started the sound just like MR.Zap's. I haven't had a chance to look at it. just came back from lunch and got on here. I am at 37,000miles I did check the breaks about 3 months ago and the backs where worn a little more than the fronts. from what I can see I still have pads but I haven't taken the tires off to really look. I figured the backs will be worn out before the fronts, the back rims are always dirty from break dust as the fronts are always clean. I do have that ESP system in my Jk, I was wondering if that had anything to do with it. I leave it on when I got off road.

i'm pretty sure there's debris in the brakes. i've had this happen before too. just be sure to clean 'em up after some heavy wheelin' in the mud and sand.
